What is the CELPIP - General LS?

The CELPIP – General LS evaluates test taker’s English listening and speaking skills and is officially designated for citizenship applications by IRCC, and is also accepted for professional designations.

Single 1-Hour Test Sitting

Takes approximately 1 hour to complete and can be done in one sitting with no separate speaking session

IRCC Approved for Citizenship Status

The CELPIP - LS test is the IRCC approved test for Canadian citizenship applications

CELPIP - General LS total test time is about 1h10m and is done in one sitting

CELPIP - General LS Test Format

The CELPIP – General LS Test has two components: Listening and Speaking.

Time allotted: 47-55 minutes

Note: Test takers will be required to read answer choices in the Listening Test and questions in the Speaking Test. To get an idea of what the test is like, we recommend purchasing study materials and reviewing our free online sample test.

*Unscored Items: The Listening Test contains unscored items used for test development. These unscored items can be found anywhere within the Listening Test and will have the same format as the scored items. You will not be able to tell scored items from unscored items, so apply your best effort to the entire test.
